The Kappa Class Landing Craft is a personnel shuttle produced in large numbers during the height of the Old Republic by Republic Sienar Systems. Some might call this shuttle obsolete now due to its weak deflector shields and light armament. In many ways the Kappa Class have been replaced by the newer and stronger Lambda Class Shuttles and Sentinel Class Landing Craft. Nevertheless several Kappa Class shuttles are still in service in the Imperial Starfleet.

It is as standard configured to carry 40 troops and 10 AT-PTs into battle. The shuttle's interior is modular, and can be rearranged for various troop needs. In form it is a precursor to the Lambda Class Shuttle, but the cockpit is extended away from the main fuselage and the the dorsal wing is not present. The stabilizer wings on the Kappa Class shuttle are much smaller than the ones on the Lambda Class and on the Kappa Class they are stationary. The standard Kappa Class shuttle is armed with a pair of turret-mounted blaster cannons, and a pair of front firing double blaster cannons. The weapons purpose is to clear a potential landing area of any hostile forces and establish a safe zone for the troops before they disembark.

After the rise of the Empire, the Kappa Class remains in production, although many users have decided to leave off the AT-PTs. The cargo space which should hold the small walkers are often turned into additional storage space nowadays. A "cargo shuttle only" modification of the ship, with no room for troops, can carry a total of 500 metric tons.
