This is the production version of the TIE/x1 Advanced prototype used by Darth Vader. Only a few squadrons were ever produced, with the first operational squadron being available shortly after the Battle of Yavin. The TIE Advanced x2 has an advanced maneuvering system similar to the one used in the TIE Interceptor, greater speed and a faster hyperdrive engine. After only a few weeks of testing the TIE/x2, a new advanced TIE was introduced by Research and Development; the TIE/x3.
